Software License Agreement
Last Updated: August 2026 • Published by PANAS NETWORK
1. Grant of License
Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of the XAT Messenger client software (including Web Client, Native Android APK, and client-side cryptographic routines) to run, inspect, and use the software for personal, academic, or commercial communication, subject to the conditions herein.
2. Mathematical Autonomy & Zero-Custody
XAT Messenger executes all cryptographic derivations (AES-256-GCM, PBKDF2-SHA512, ECDH P-256 key agreements, Deflate L9 compression) locally on the client's device using native hardware WebCrypto and Android Keystore primitives.
- PANAS NETWORK does not maintain custody of private keys, symmetric channel keys, or authentication passwords.
- Loss of local keys or PINs results in permanent, irreversible loss of channel access. No recovery mechanism exists.
3. Disclaimer of Warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL PANAS NETWORK, THE AUTHORS, OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES, OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF, OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE SOFTWARE.
4. Intellectual Property & Brand
The XAT Messenger protocol architecture, cryptographic workflows, and PANAS NETWORK marks remain the property of PANAS NETWORK. Reverse engineering for security verification and independent cryptographic audits is explicitly encouraged.
5. Peer-to-Peer Communication Compliance
Users are solely responsible for ensuring that their use of cryptographic communication software complies with the laws and regulations of their respective local jurisdictions.
